OPEN REQ for ADVISORS to WORLD TABLE:
World Table PBC, makers of the online comment system, moderation dashboard and engagement suite for publishers, is seeking journalism experts from the news industry to assemble a formal advisory board to help us fulfill our company mission.
World Table is a registered Public Benefit Corporation that is preparing to become a Certified Public Benefit Company according to requirements established by B-Lab, makers of the original Public Benefit Corporation.
Public Benefit Corporations operate like regular corporations with one major exception: Corporations are legally required to maximize profits for their shareholders as their reason for existence. Public Benefit Corporations are allowed to legally add an additional reason for existence that serves a social or environmental need – allowing them to serve both purposes. “Certified” Public Benefit Corporations meet even higher standards that prove (or certify) they are doing the things they claim to be doing – or at least trying.
We have chosen Journalism as the cause we want our business to serve.
The purpose of the advisory board is to help us establish credibility within the industry beyond our own good intentions and statements. We will look to these advisors for both internal and external validation of our mission, motives, and actions as we strive to build products and solutions that will ultimately support the monetary needs of excellent journalism everywhere.
World Table Advisors will be expected to hold us accountable privately and publicly. These positions will be compensated and there will be no firewall between them and our decisions, flaws and agendas. Advisors will be expected to advocate for our cause, help us navigate the news industry and be our voice. Advisors will have the power to ratify our final mission statement, guiding principles and core goals, which then will be voted on by our Board of Directors as part of our company’s legal and binding reason for existence.
